Today I am finally ready to show and celebrate my greatest photography accomplishment so far.
Last December, an opportunity quite literally fell into my lap (via Twitter–yay Twitter!) to do a photo shoot with the band Girls, based out of San Francisco, for a January issue of NME Magazine.
Now, wait, back up. I love everything about the UK, I love UK music & I absolutely love NME Magazine. It has been a goal of mine to be published in the NME for years now, and two of my favorite concert photographers of all time shoot or have shot for the NME. To have the opportunity to do this shoot, get paid for it and be published in this magazine … it was an unbelievable whirlwind of dreams coming true.
I met with the members of Girls at their house in Bernal Heights/The Mission on December 18th, and they were such pros at this sort of thing that we were done in 45 minutes. It was an enjoyable shoot and some great shots came out of it.
Today, the “Albums of 2011″ issue hit news stands, so I am finally able to show you which shot they chose, as well as the ones they didn’t.
