My First Earthquake at DNA Lounge | SF Concert Photography

On January 29th, much-adored club night Pop Roxx returned from a 2.5 year hiatus and hosted a great night of music, sparkles & go go dancers at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. The night was capped off by a great performance by My First Earthquake, who are not only one of my all-time favorite SF bands, but also the first band that really gave me a chance to shoot them multiple times and get creative with my concert photography. I love this band!

One of my favorite parts of concert photography is that it is completely unpredictable—you can be in a venue you’ve been in a dozen times, shooting a band you’ve shot a dozen times, and each time will be a completely different experience with its own set of challenges. This time, I was in a venue I’d never attempted to photograph in before, and “unique challenges” definitely popped up. Fortunately, I was able to make most of them work to my advantage.

But—live and learn! Overall I feel like I came away with some great images given that lighting challenge. Enjoy the sparkles!
