Scott & I have had the honor of shooting so many different types of weddings over the years: a wild animal park, a fencing team, a small wedding with the cutest baby ever, a Halloween wedding … but we’d never shot a wedding in which the guests totaled around 300 and the bridesmaids/groomsmen tallied over a baker’s dozen. That is, until two weeks ago.
Enter Lan & Matt. This couple is not only incredible by itself (they are so perfect together!), but they have amazing (huge) families and friends. As an only child, it’s tough for me to comprehend having siblings, and I rarely wish for them, but seeing the joy, the happiness and togetherness of these two families made me long for it. It was really special to share this day with these two families, which more than any other wedding we’ve shot, seemed like a true joining of two families into one.
We started the day in Martinez, traveled to San Pablo for a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony at Lan’s parent’s house, then traveled a short distance for a beautiful Catholic ceremony. After that, everyone traveled to Oakland to the stunning Cathedral of Christ the Light for a raucous reception. What are the chances of a perfectly sunny, 65-degree day in late January? It seems pretty slim, but that’s exactly what we got. I’m so thrilled that we got to take so many photos outside and that Lan & Matt will have a gorgeous sunny wedding day to remember for the rest of their lives.
Here’s a sneak peek from their beautiful wedding day. Congratulations again, Lan & Matt!
